The Rural Health Care Program
The purpose of the RHC program is improving access to primary care in undeserved rural areas. RHCs are required to use a team approach of physicians and mid-level practitioners such as Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants.
The Rural Health Clinic Services Act of 1977 (Public Law 95-210) was enacted to address an inadequate supply of physicians serving Medicare patients in rural areas and to increase the utilization of non-physician practitioners such as Nurse Practitioners (NP) and Physician Assistants (PA) in rural areas. There are approximately 4,300 RHCs nationwide that provide access to primary care services in rural areas.
National Health Service Corps Certified Member

- Accepts Medicaid, Medicare and Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP)
